Drill bits that are designed for impact drilling must withstand extreme mechanical and thermal loads. In contrast to conventional drilling methods, where material is mainly removed by cutting, impact drilling combines rotary movements with impulsive, axial impact movements. This requires specific material properties, an adapted geometry and special manufacturing processes to ensure efficient material shattering and a long service life for the tool.
